Portmahomack is excellent for all kinds of water sports. The sheltered bay and easy water access via the beach and harbour make launching boats wind-surfers and jet skis a snap. The clear water affords wonderful opportunities for snorkeling and swimming.

There are many prime sites for diving in the area. These include local shore-based sites and those in the deeper waters of the Moray Firth. Portmahomack is within the Moray Firth cSAC (Candidate Marine Special Area of Conservation).

The bay is sheltered and good for water skiing, sailing, kayaking, snorkeling and most forms of water sport.
