Portmahomack has an excellent beach for families. The gently sloping beach is backed by sand dunes and is less than five minutes walk from Killearn Cottage.

If you're a good swimmer, take a snorkle and a pair of flippers and explore the bay.

There are other excellent beaches at Dornoch, Embo and Golspie. The Black Isle beaches can be reached easily via the Cromarty Ferry. There are also many excellent beaches on the West Coast. A day trip can easily include a couple of relaxing hours on a beach where you may be the only visitors.
